Rezumat | |||||
Mihail G. Samarineanu saw the light of day on April 1, 1893 in Aminciu, Macedonia. His family, quite wealthy, trained and educated him in the spirit of defending the rights of the Aromanians in the Balkans. His father, Guli Papageorge Samarineanu, was a well-known activist for preserving the ethnic identity of the southern branch of the Romanesque population in this part of Europe. The same father planted his love for Romania in his soul. Arriving in Bihor, he discovered an uncomfortable situation for Romanian culture and spirituality. Given that the Romanian identity was very difficult to assert and display before 1918, Bihor, like the whole of Transylvania, suffered from the lack of a consistent Romanian elite. This was the reason why he put himself with all his being in the service of the Romanian cause and the shaping of a cultural landscape in which Romanian voices are best heard, without paying attention to the rights of the other two important communities of Bihor, Hungarian and Jewish. |
