Biodiversity is the backbone of life. However, biodiversity is declining at an alarming rate. The preservation of natural ecosystems and genetic backgrounds unaltered at global and regional level in order to ensure a balance between the natural components of the environment, on the one hand, and between them and human society, on the other, is a primary objective for the conservation of nature in general and biodiversity in particular. The management plan of RAMSAR Wetland „Lakes of the Lower Prut” is a basic document for the sustainable management of natural resources in the southern part of the Republic of Moldova. In general, wetland is a resource of great economic, natural, scientific and recreational value, the disappearance of which would be irreparable, which in terms of biodiversity are among the most productive ecosystems in the world.
