Rezumat

The author presents the “Catalogue of Slavonic-Romanian and Slavic Manuscripts from the Library of the Romanian Academy”, vol. III, part I, by Petre P. Panaitescu and Zamfira Mihail (Bucharest, 2018). He highlights the rich fund of manuscripts held by the Library of the Romanian Academy and makes an overview of the attempts of previous scientists (A.I. Iatzimirsky, P.P. Panaitescu) to draw up a catalogue of these manuscripts. P.P. Panaitescu prepared the third volume of the catalogue, but only recently it has been published, updated and reviewed. The book bears a great value because it contains descriptions of several manuscripts of utmost importance for the Romanian culture, such as: the first chronicles from the Principality of Moldova, one of the first juridical texts in Romanian, richly illuminated books etc. Zamfira Mihail, a famous linguist and historian of the Romanian culture, daughter of the priest and scholar Paul Mihail, undertook additional investigations to determine the names of the donors of many manuscripts. She emphasized as well the contribution of Bessarabian scholars to the preservation and study of several important writings.
