Tonsillitis - a process of adaptation or complication of the human body
(Bibliographic review)
The tonsils are lymphoepithelial structures that provide a protective immunological ring
at the openings of both digestive and respiratory tracts. Individual particularities of the tonsils in
the human body also provide a variety of complex immunological functions. Among the immune
function of tonsils are listed: the capture antigens present on mucosal, proliferation of T and B
lymphocytes, the differentiation into effective and immune lymphocytes. However, the role of
local immunity immunoglobulin secreted from infectious agents has been extensively studied.
Thus, through this bibliographic synthesis is highlighted the morphological features and the basic
immunological functions of tonsils. In clinical context, even if the tonsils inflammatory diseases
have a major share, the therapeutic behavior required to be applied remains controversial. |
