Assessment quality of life in patients with systemic lupus
erythematosus and nervous system involvment
Diagnosis problems in neuropsychiatric SLE remains a challenge for clinicians. Our
purpose was to study the neuropsychiatric syndromes in patients and their impact on quality of
life. We examined 84 patients who met the ACR diagnostic criteria, Hochberg M. 1997. Disease
activity index was assessed by SLEDAI Neuropsychiatric syndromes in patients with systemic
lupus erythematosus have been assessed by NPSLE /ACR 1999 criteria. Quality of life
assessment was performed according to the short form questionnaire with 36 questions, Short
Form-36 (SF-36). Regarding the quality of life assessment, to be noted, that patients with SLE in
our study had SF-36 over 50 points in both groups, but the quality of life is lower in patients with
mental component neurolupus on account. Analyzing assessment data we found that the
influence of the subscales emotional role was more pronounced among patients with NPLES.
Application of SF-36 questionnaire in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus demonstrated
its usefulness in management of neurolupus.
