The article offers a new reading of the poem „But first...” by Liviu Damian. Written on the occasion of the 100 th anniversary of Lenin’s birth, the poem was treated with much suspicion by ideological authorities of the time. The cause lies in the deeply subversive nature of the message that is found beyond the appearance of a so-called „in line” writing. Through a technique of subtext, but also the overlap of optical the poet removes ideological pillars which circulated around the head of the revolution, carrying the idea of inutility of this revolution as well as its harmful and anti-human consequences. |
