In October last year I had the opportunity to participate in international scientific conference „Civic identity and European integration as factors in the development of Moldovan statehood” (Kishinev, 4-7 October 2011). The report „National and cultural identity of Moldova in a mirror of sociological researches„ was presented by me during the conference. This report contains the idea that national cultural identity in Moldova is closely connected with the conviction of the need to preserve state sovereignty and it is still dominant at the grassroots level. This thesis is grounded on sociological study carried out jointly with the Moldovan and Ukrainian partners in March 2011 in the Republic of Moldova. Threats to the Moldovan state sovereignty in the event of further deterioration of the economic situation in the country were also identified in this sociological case study.
The second sociological poll was carried out in January of the current year. The research of the problems of geopolitical choice of Moldova and attitude to this choice of its citizens was continued basing on this ground. As well as for the first time, poll was carried out in the cities and other settlements (including rural areas) Moldova. Representative audience consisted of adults of Moldova having the right to vote. In total 1500 respondents of 10 settlements were interrogated.
The proportion of those who supports immediate unification with Romania, is approximately 12% of the total population, and this doesn’t show any tendency of decreasing or increasing.
Performance of Andrei Medvedev, the Executive Director of ANO Centre for Political Technologies „PolitKontakt” in the international scientific conference „Joining of Bessarabia to Russia in light of the centuries-old Moldovan-Russian-Ukrainian cooperation” (Chisinau, 2 - 4 April 2012). |
