Rezumat | |||||
The present research is dedicated to the CPM’s and CPSU’s policy regarding the press and literature from Romania during the 1960s-1970s. This policy was determined by Romania’s attempts to distance itself from the USSR, by the Romanian historiographic reversal, by the Romanian political leaders’ and scholars’ dismissal of pro-Soviet and pro-Russian approaches to the history of Bessarabia and the MSSR, of Russian- and Soviet-Romanian relations. The change in the Romanian policy and historiography, associated with the geographical vicinity and ethno-cultural identity of Romanians from both banks of the Prut River transformed Romania into an ideological enemy, even more dangerous than the developed capitalist states which, from the point of view of geographical position and cultural distinctions, were not so dangerous. For these reasons, in 1966-1970, CPSU and CPM significantly reduced the subscriptions and selling of Romanian magazines and newspapers in the MSSR. Even in this case, given the fact that in other regions there were no prohibitions regarding subscriptions to Romanian periodic press, it continued to reach the MSSR subscribers. After 1975, CPSU and CPM, after several requests made by CPM leadership to the CC of the CPSU, the possibility of Romanians from the MSSR to subscribe to periodical editions from Romania in other regions of the USSR was suppressed. Thus, one of the main obstacles towards the complete sovietization and russification of the MSSR population was eliminated. |
