Telenesti village is first mentioned on March 20, 1598. From the very beginning, Teleneştii was a settlement of free peasants (yeomen). Between 1673 – 1685, Toderaşcu Iordache Cantacuzino acquired almost the entire village. Subsequently, Teleneştii are owned by Ruset and Mavrocordat families.Telenesti name is of anthroponymic origin, being composed of patronyme – Telin and suffix -eşti. |
