The article presents a historiographical review of the works, which contain some arguments that refute the hypothesis of the "Bulgarian" Slavic origin of the Gagauz. These are the works of M.N. Guboglo, L.A. Pokrovskaya, G.A. Gaidarzhi, I.F. Greka, A.V. Shabashova, S.S. Bulgar and others. Among such arguments is the thesis about the originality of the Gagauz language, as well as the fact that the basic vocabulary, which includes a system of terms of kinship, pronouns, a system of counting up to ten, are Turkic in origin. In addition, historical factors play a significant role. One of these is the statement of the historian S. Bulgar that the formation of the Gagauz took place not only on the territory of modern Bulgaria, but also in one of the regions of Greece. The population of this region considers themselves to be indigenous people, whose ancestors did not know the Bulgarian language before. |
