The essay takes under debate the issue of tradition and innovation in contemporary Romanian literature viewed through the prism of traditional authenticity of a classical work, which, over the years, although losing something of specifi c things that belong to some periods of time, still kept its meaning of vivid actuality. The secret of this miracle is what Lucian Blaga called „a stylistic matrix of the nation.” The fact that the recent criticism couldn’t understand these things properly has resulted in heated discussions regarding the traditionalist spirit and the novelty characteristics of literature on which the author of the article tries boldly to express the views.
