It turns out that, in the XV-XVII centuries, the army of the Moldovan Principality was a cavalry one. According to the author, the Moldovans were among the peoples of the world with a „horse tradition”: they were riders beyond compare and had good breeds of horses. The exact origin of this enigmatic tradition is unknown. It could be an influence of the steppe, on the line of the Alans-Tatars ancestors. The Moldovan servicemen were lightly equipped.
