Rezumat

Our article presents a detailed analysis of the characteristics of the international migration of the population in Botosani country that emigrated to Italy, after 1990. Italy was chosen as a country of study because it is the state with the majority of emigrants from Botosani. The phenomenon of international migration in Botosani county has produced quite visible demographic effects and unfortunately the majority of them being very negative. Among the main effects, we highlight the accelerated aging of the population, rising mortality, falling birth rates, increasing divorce, lack of labor, depopulation of rural areas, all of which lead to a gradual numerical decrease of the population every year. Unfortunately, even if the demographic situation is rather serious and complicated for the future, its state or officials in Botosani county have not yet taken concrete measures to mitigate the phenomenon of population migration.
