Rezumat

The most important form of children’s manifestation is the play. Lucian Blaga states inspirationally that « the play is the child’s wisdom and love». The goal set by the author in this article refers to the analysis of the psychological theories that try to explain the play and its functions in our life from its beginning until the end. Atavistic theories present the play as a reflection of an inherited trait, the child being a « recapitulation » of the phylogeny. Cathartic theories are based on the idea that the play is a means of elevation of some innate instincts. The conclusion the author subscribes to is that the child who does not play is not normal and their subsequent adult life will be severely prejudiced. Using play by ingeniously adapting them to accurate educational goals means to beneficially canalize one of the most profound energies of the childhood. This is the main research problem launched in this paper.
