Rezumat

The European continent remains an area of global in stability due to the new region a
circumstances created after the collapse of the USSR.
Currently, we are witnessing the intensification of revanchist tandre visionist policy
promoted by the Russian Federation which directly influences regional policy and reflects the
geopolitical status of Moldova.
We consider that after the collapse of the USSR, Russia is in to a dilemma: to be part
of Europe or an Eurasian structure. Russia is creating an area of vital interest, known as the
phrase „near abroad”. To dominate the area, several tools are used like political, economic,
military or demagogic.
Analyzing the contemporary geopolitical realities, there are certain aspects of their impact
on Moldova, which has direct border with Ukraine. As a result, Republic of Moldova has
to express its position in the light of its national interests such as territorial integrity, internal
stability and economic development. And to achieve the goals of that, the only option is moving
towards EU.
In concluding this article, we put the same question which researcher Therry Walton
had put:
Should we be afraid of Putin’s Russia?
Following we shouldn’t be afraid of the policy of V. Putin because those actions stake
psychological intimidation, as a result, Russia’s blocking actions depend on the firmness and
wisdom of the European leaders.
History teaches us that cessions to Germany made by European leaders at the conference
in Munich in 1938 led to the outbreak of the Second World War, therefore we should not
repeat the same mist take sat the beginning of the XXI century.
