Background. Rhinosinusitis is one of the most common diseases in the world, with a considerable impact on the health and quality of life of the affected person, the incidence of this disease being from 6.9% to 27.1%. Objective of the study. Evaluation of the clinical results of cell therapy in children with chronic rhinosinusitis Material and Methods. During the years 2018-2020 in Mother and Child Center, ENT department of "Emilian Coțaga" Clinic, 181 children with CRS were treated. The study involved 63 patients, assigned to group A who received treatment with autologous mononuclear cells and group B who received standard treatment according to the protocols. Results. Based on endoscopic examinations, the Lund-Kennedy scoring system was used, chronic rhinosinusitis being thus framed in stages. The Lund-Kennedy scale, performed before the treatment, showed a minimum score of 4 and a maximum score of 10; after treatment, the minimum score was 0 and the maximum –3. Repeated examinations at 3, 6 and 12 months after treatment, respectively, showed that the patients treated with the new autologous cell treatment method did not have recurrences, the majority obtaining a score of 0 - maximum 2, while the patients treated with the standard method had recurrences, some patients reaching the score 9. Conclusion. Application of the Lund-Kennedy scoring system using endoscopic parameters, before and after the treatment, provided most relevant information for assessing the outcomes of cell therapy for patients with chronic rhinosinusitis |
