Rezumat

In all historical periods the family has been the backbone of the society. That is why marriage was encouraged, legally protected and transformed into a sacred ceremony with sacred features. Taking into account that in the contemporary world is endangered marriage and the divorce rate is alarming, it is time to flip through pages just to learn from past ancestors and avoid the mistakes that crash our life. In the nineteenth century in Bessarabia marriages were celebrated with great care and responsibility. Research was important both social and material status of their families, both from parents and preparing dowry – precursor element in all families, regardless of ethnicity, nationality or color. Thus, stages of wedding in Bessarabia were similar in both Moldovan and the Russian, Hebrew, Bulgarian, etc. Difference come from traditions and customs but here we find the common elements, the same symbol being played in different ways but still happy.
