Rezumat

Some biological characteristics, peculiarities of growth and development of some species with melliferous potential grown in the collection of the Plant Resources Laboratory of the „Alexandru Ciubotaru” National Botanical Garden (Institute) are presented in this article. The aerial phytomass of cup plant, cardoon and elecampane is of high economic value as fodder and substrate used in the production of renewable energy. The plants have adapted to the climatic conditions of the given area and are able to complete the entire ontogenetic cycle, they bloom and produce viable seeds. The species have long flowering period and are attractive to honey and pollinating insects.
