The author of the article draws attention to the topical problem of modern society - establishment of effective intercultural dialogue between people of different nations that can relieve tension in the society. Teaching personality to be a member of such a dialogue in the framework of intercultural communication is the task of pedagogy. In the article the author sets the task to prove and show that intercultural communication should and could be considered not only within the framework of the linguistic disciplines, but non-linguistic disciplines such as «world literature». Text fiction accumulates and guides national-cultural dominants. It reflects consciousness of the people, its mentality, national character, and way of life, traditions, customs, morals, values, attitude, and vision of the world. Therefore, the author points out familiarity with the foreign culture, particularly the national literature as an integral part of it. This is the way of strengthening their identity, and establishing a meaningful and friendly dialogue. Intercultural space literary education should focus on the artistic text as a model of national life, the national image of the world. The author is convinced that one of the leading literary purposes of education is to teach the skill and readiness to adequately understand people of other cultures and constructively communicate with them. Acquaintance with the culture of the people through the text of his national literature will help subsequent successful intercultural interaction.
