Rezumat

The structure and cohesion in academic texts are governed by the style rules, language choice, and cultural norms. It is extremely interesting to see how various standards and principles of building abstracts as academic texts in English, Romanian and Russian regulate the usage of linking words and expressions, which provide academic text coherence and cohesion among and inside their structural elements. Studies in this area can help understand frequency level of certain linking words and explain basic ideas linking and shifts in academic texts in these three languages. Key elements lists and linking principles in the given languages can explain possible similar and dissimilar character of their usage.
