Rezumat

According to experts from United Nations Environment Programme, the green economy is defined as an improving the population’s living standards economy and which ensures the social justice, in addition with the environment risk reduction. The most important features of this type of economy are efficient use of natural resources, the preservation and the increase of the natural capital, the pollution reduction, prevention of the biodiversity loss, the increase of income and employment. The green economy is researched in the context of the fight against the climate change and as a solution for overcoming the financial and economic crises. The green economy is based on clean and green technologies, and the development of this economy will allow states and regions of the world to avoid an ecological crisis, which has already affected many post-industrial countries. This determines the need to modernize the economy, whose ultimate goal, in addition to economic growth and competitiveness, is to improve the living standards of the population and ensure favorable conditions for future generations. Achieving this goal is only possible if sustainable development is ensured on the basis of the principles of the „green economy”.
