The article centres round the problem of the tumors of the knee joint and provides a
review of the experience gathered in the department of General Oncology, regarding
endoprosthetics of these patients. There have been determined the clinical effects of the metallic endoprosthetics of the knee joint and there have been presented the results as well as the complications and the measures of their prevention. The replacement of metallic endoprostheses was possible in patients with benign and malignant tumors, but some features should be taken into account: tumor genesis, tumor risk and localization, somatic functional status of the patient, concomitant diseases. During the period 1998- 2008 there have been made 25 prostheses. |
