In the article the human development is examined through the prism of education. This, in conditions of globalization, has the tendency to spread in the world not only the positive experience, gained from the Occident but also the acute problems facing it in the field of education. To overcome the possible social crisis caused by the issues of occidental education, the author recommends that in our conditions, starting from national traditions, to give priority to humanization and then socialization in education. This can be achieved through a higher degree of use of humanitarian discipline - literature, philosophy and religion- in the educational system.
