The study was developed based on research results obtained on the amount of waste discharged from the Northern Development Region (NDR), which occupies an area of 10050.9 km2 . The waste management infrastructure per region is poorly developed, thus shows a high degree of pollution of soil, water and air at the regional level. Thus, according to our research highest volume was recorded in 2009 on the territory of Fălești with an amount of 294,039.2 tons. Corresponding to this group we’ll highlight Sîngerei where the lowest volume was recorded - 537.5 tons (2012). Daily, thousands of tons of solid household waste are being produced in NDR, which are collected and stored in more than 614 small deposits normally located on the outskirts of settlements. Most of these deposits are undeveloped and unauthorized. A leading role of solving problems concerning waste recovery lies with state institutions.
