The influence of the population size as well as its structure on the socio-economic
development is one of the most important problems the modern society faces. In the present
article, based on the socio-demographic analysis of the vital statistics and the elaborated
population projections, the changes of the population structure by age and sex for the Republic
of Moldova and their possible demographic and socio-economic consequences are shown.
