Public administration, in its quality of being a intermediary niche between society and the political arena, is likely to be sensitive to the modifications that have occurred in the recent years under the pressure of financial crisis. Furthermore, new public policy requirements and new budgetary constrains have led to the reinventation of the classical role that literature and practice have defined for it. Integrating it self in the current of the new public management and the more recent new weberianism, to improve administrative practices and the process performance, a series of successful private practices have been imported to the public administration. In this category falls the social responsibility as a management tool. Without reiterating the administration’s primary mission, that to serve the citizens and the public interest, we talk about using social responsibility to demonstrate commitment and concern for all stakeholders (citizens, employees, decision makers) beyond the strict provisions of the law. |
