<description xml:lang='en' descriptionType='Abstract'>The present younger generation is adept to concubinage at least for a certain period of
time; this situation is confirmed by the dates of population Census since 2004 and by the study
results of “Social adjustment of young families in the Republic of Moldova to the socio-
economic transformations”, conducted by the article’s author. According to the study “Social
adjustment of young families in the Republic of Moldova to the socio-economic
transformations”, 600 of young families who were included in the study, 47.3% of young
spouses investigated have acknowledged that they lived together until a marriage. Regarding the
length of time that the spouses have lived together before marriage, most of them mentioned 0-6
months (47.2%), 6 months – 1 year (22%), more than 1 year (30.7%). If we make a reference to
the situation in West cohabitation period in our country is much lower.
