This article examines the role of the civil society in the institutional democrati-
zation of the Republic of Moldova resulting from the New Neighborhood European
Policy. The author clears up the main political decisions and resolutions with an in-
stitutional character taken by the public authorities since 2005 in close cooperation
with the civil society. Their purpose is to foster competitiveness and increase the func-
tionality and democratization of the Moldovan state institutions. At the same time,
some existing problems and deficiencies in the dialogue between the state and the civil
society are mentioned.
