Rezumat

The professionalization of teachers can be approached in several contexts, among which we list the social, cultural and, to some extent, political aspect. Lately, the term "profession" has been used to refer to so many different occupations that the original meaning has been almost lost. The ubiquity of the term and how we come to use and understand it helps to open the discussion about the progress in establishing the status of teachers at the professional level [16].
