The article presents international and national practices regarding the development of teachers' careers. The reflections and conclusions of the article present the goals of teachers' career development, the structure of the career in different countries and the promotion conditions to a higher level, as well as the additional roles obtained by teachers in the course of their promotion. Also in the career evolution we have emphasized various aspects: economic, social and psychological, where the educational aspect is essential for the professional development of the teacher.
