Background. TMJ disorders are an extremely important problem in contemporary dentistry. According to WHO data, about 40% of the population, aged between 20 and 50, suffer from various forms of TMJ dysfunctions. Objective of the study. Determining the importance of computer axiography in the process of diagnosing temporomandibular joint dysfunction. Material and Methods. We examined 23 patients, aged 20-50 years (14W, 9B) with condyle-disc dysfunction of TMJ. The clinical examination was performed by palpation, inspection, auscultation, joint play control, endurance test, challenge test. To confirm or refute the preventive clinical diagnosis, the paraclinical examination method, computer axiography, was used. Results. Following the evaluation of clinical and paraclinical markers, we predetermined the clinical form of dysfunction of the condylar-disc assembly. For curative-diagnostic purposes, through occlusal splint, we identified the role of occlusion in the appearance and development of temporomandibular joint dysfunctions. Conclusion. Computer axiography allows us to analyze the quantitative and qualitative characteristics of the trajectories of the movements of the lower jaw, of the articular condyles in the articular fossa and to detect various forms of TMJ dysfunctions in the early stages of development. |
