Rezumat

The Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (PCA) is the legal basis for EU relations with Moldova. With the joint adoption of the EU-Moldova Action Plan on 22 February 2005, the EU and Moldova have further reinforced their bilateral relationship, providing a new tool to help implement the PCA and bring Moldova closer to the EU. In this respect, the Republic of Moldova adopted a series of laws on intellectual property protection, adhered to the majority of international treaties and convention in the field, intensified the cooperation relations with patent offices worldwide, became a full member of the World Trade Organization and signed the Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPs). Since the adoption of the EU-Moldova Action Plan that expressly provides for the realization of important objectives related to industrial and intellectual property protection by the year 2007, the State Agency on Intellectual Property is undertaking measures to ensure in the Republic of Moldova a level of protection of intellectual property rights similar to that in the European Union.
