Background. De Quervain's tenosynovitis is a tendinopathy of the first dorsal compartment of the wrist, wich consists of the tendons of the extensor pollicis brevis and the abductor pollicis longus. Pathology that causes pain, functional impotence, during the extention of the thumb. Objective of the study. To distinguish the particularity of its incidence depending on sex, age, affected limb and the evolution over time of the disease before and after surgical treatment. Material and Methods. For this study was reviwed speciality literature and 60 patients treated in Clinical Orthopedics and Traumatology Hospital during 2018-2020. Results. Following the research, it was established that depending on the sex of the patient, the female sex has a rate of 80% and the male rate of 20%. The damage of the right limb has a rate of 56.6%, the left one of 40.1%, and the bilateral damage a rate of 3.3%. Affected persons up to the age of 40 years-16.4%, between 40-60 years -61.6% and over 60 years-21%. The evolution in time of the disease before performing the surgical treatment: for 1 year-46.6%, 1-2 years-25% and more than 2 years 28.4%. All patients were treated surgically. Conclusion. De Quervain tenosynovitis, a pathology that mainly affects women, the average age is 40-60 years, the predominant limb is the right one, and drug and physiotherapy treatment bring only a slight improvement over a short period of time, the basic treatment is surgery. |
