Rezumat

The goal of this article is to inform about what is the merchandising of intellectual property rights, why people are motivated to give or to receive licenses involving merchandising properties, what are the forms and sources of merchandising, as well as, what are the benefits for both the companies owning intellectual property assets and licensing out and the licensees. There are specified the main rules taken into consideration when developing a merchandising strategy, a strategy which could exclude the problems that may arise in this complexity activity. We may remark that in the Republic of Moldova there is a growing tendency of practicing the merchandising of intellectual property rights by companies. There are some given examples in this sense.
