Background. Hypertrophy of adenoid vegetations is one of the most common nosological entities globally. According to the literature, their incidence is from 42% to 70%, mainly affecting the children aged 0-6 years. Objective of the study. We set out to study the methods of diagnostic and surgical treatment used in the hypertrophy of adenoid vegetations. Material and Methods. A retrospective study was performed on a group of 30 patients selected within the IMSP Clinic "Emilian Coțaga": April 2019April 2020. The diagnostic methods were applied: conventional radiography, acoustic rhinometry, rhinomanometry, optical endoscopy, fibrorinoscopy. The surgical treatment was performed by: classical adenotomy, ablation by laser and microdebrider, under endoscopic control. Results. Following the study, it was determined that conventional radiography was performed in most patients - 30 (100%) before hospitalization. Subsequently, in the hospital, to confirm the diagnostic, rhinofibroscopy was performed in 20 patients (66.66%), rhinomanometry in 20 patients (66.66%) and acoustic rhinometry 15 patients (50.00%). Regarding the surgical treatment, we can mention that the application of the laser and the microdebrider resulted in better results, compared to the classic adenotomy. Conclusion. Therefore, the results of the study showed that in the practice of the pediatric otorhinolaryngology clinic "Emilian Coțaga", efficient methods of diagnostic and treatment are used. |
