Background. In the Republic of Moldova, in decentralized sources of drinking water, there are increased amounts of fluoride. In localities where fluoride exceeds the normative limit, the population suffers from dental fluorosis and osteofluorosis. It also affects the endocrine and nervous system. Objective of the study. Analysis of fluoride content in decentralized sources of drinking water and highlighting endemic areas of fluorosis in the Republic of Moldova. Material and Methods. The data taken from the registers from the sanitary-hygienic laboratories of the Public Health Centers were analyzed and processed. In the period 2010-2017 water samples were taken from decentralized sources from different regions. Results. In our country, increased amounts of fluoride in drinking water are mostly found in localities in the center and north of the republic. Analyzing the water samples at the fluorine content, they detected values that exceed the normal limit (normally the fluoride content will not exceed 1.5 mg / l). Thus, the following fluoride values were detected in different localities of the republic: Ungheni - 1.97 ± 0.05 mg / l (min - 1.6; max - 4.4); Riscani - 0.72 ± 0.02 (0.01; 4.0); CeadârLunga - 1.13 ± 0.06 (0.05; 9.4); Edinet - 0.81 ± 0.01 (1.6; 4.4); Orhei - 0.75 ± 0.01 (0.05; 2.2); Falesti 0.99 ± 0.05 (0.09; 16.2); Ștefan Vodă - 1.44 ± 0.06 (0.02; 8.5). Conclusion. In the Republic of Moldova there are localities where the fluoride concentration essentially exceeds the normative limit. Increased concentrations are observed in both average and unit values of water samples, which leads to increased cases of dental fluorosis and osteofluorosis. |
