Background. The pandemic caused by COVID-19, had an overwhelming impact not only in Republic of Moldova but also worldwide on social, economic, political areas, etc., generating fierce controversy regarding the ethical and moral dilemmas of infecting medical staff with COVID-19. Objective of the study. Evaluation and elucidation of the bioethical size of the process of involving the medical staff in first line of fighting COVID-19 and consequently, exposed to high risk of contamination. Material and Methods. Scientific works; analytical programs on this topic; national and international statistical data referred to the volume of infection of medical staff with COVID-19. Applied methods: bioethical, sociological. Results. During this study, it was found that the psycho-emotional vulnerability of the medical staff has increased considerably with the emergence of pandemic COVID-19. Most of the medical personnel that took care of the patients infected with COVID-19 reported feelings of fear, sadness, nervousness, anxiety, disquet, guilt in relation to their colleagues, who became ill or even died. This way were elucidated the causative factors both objective, but especially subjective ones: lack of a proper equipment, lack of an accurate plan of treatment, isolation from the family members, etc. Conclusion. The study highlighted that most medical personnel involved in the fight against COVID-19 remained true to bioethical principles, fully assuming all the risks they are exposed to on a daily basis, altruistically compensating for serious mistakes made by the government in the fight the pandemic. |
