Background. Access to medical services is one of the benchmarks for assessing the quality of life of the population. Due to the major role of the pharmaceutical industry, there is a need to assess the influence of medicalization and pharmaceuticalization on the quality of life of vulnerable sections of the popu Objective of the study: is to elucidate the interdependence between medicalization, pharmaceuticalization and quality of life on the vulnerable category of the population. Material and Methods. Meta-analysis of studies identified in the databases: NCBI, PubMed / MedLine, JSTOR on the impact of medicalization and pharmaceutical on the vulnerable population and how the quality of life is affected. Results. The strong tendency to ”medicalize” health problems often focuses on increased financial and geographical access to health services and medicines in policies for vulnerable populations with poor health. This approach has a positive impact on public health, but neglects the social and economic causes of vulnerability. In addition to access to health services, policies focused on ensuring economic security, education, housing, nutrition / food security and the environment are also critical in efforts to improve health among socially disadvantaged populations. Conclusion. Medicalization and pharmaceuticalization contribute to improving the quality of life of vulnerable population. Focusing policies on ensuring the socio-economic security of the population is the fundamental source for improving the health of the vulnerable population. |
