Local development of national autonomies represent one of the most researched items of modern scientists. Gagauyia is a national autonomy in the Republic of Moldova. The main problem of it development is connect to the items of economic performances. The local potential is represent mostly by the agricultural sector and food processing factories, especially wineyards. The paper describes the general aspects of Gagauzia economy. A SWOT analysis is done and a number of recommendations a proposed for increasing the local competitiveness.
