Rezumat

The article deals with theoretical analysis of the development and self-development of a student's social position in the process of his professional development. The problem areas of the formation of an active life position among students and the spread of an orientation towards pragmatic values among them are highlighted; undisclosed potentialities regarding the formation of a socially active personality in the learning process; the lack of didactic mechanisms for the formation of social competence as a leading component of the student's active life position. The emphasis is made on the fact that the core of the modern educational process is the formation of an active life position.
