Rezumat

As a result of years of work, a system of breeding and hybridization of the pigs in the Republic of Moldova was improved through the use of modern meat breeds Pietrain, Duroc and Hampshire, in combination with maternal breeds Landrace and Yorkshire. For the crossing of Yorkshire x Duroc bi-racial sows and Landrace x Pietrain biracial boars there was established a superiority according to the weight of the lot and that of a piglet at the age of 45 days, which was 144,4 kg and 20,9 kg. There were found peculiarities of formation of meat qualities in different variants of crossbreeds and it was determined that the best crossing option is to use of crossbreed (Yorkshire x Duroc) sows with crossbreed (Landrace x Pietrain) boars, which are renowned for their high feedlots and meat qualities. At the end of testing of commercial hybrids, according to fattening capacity and carcass there came to prominence hybrids obtained from crossing Landrace sows with Duroc boars, who had a precocity of 180- 185 days. At slaughter , the hybrids had 20,0 to 18,0 mm thickness of fat layer and ham weight of 10,8 to 11,0 kg. Hybrids from crossing of Yorkshire x Landrace bi-racial sows with Pietrain boars have reached a body weight of 100 kg at the age of 175 days, 17,5 mm thickness of the fat layer and 11.6 kg weight of ham.
