Introduction: The new nosological entity –COVID-19, is a real challenge for the health system around the whole world. In terms of viral tropism, the heart and vessels are also involved in the pathological process. Purpose: to elucidate the peculiarities of the cardiovascular damage in coronavirus infectionon the one hand and the evolution of the infection in patients with pre-existing cardiovascular diseaseon the other hand. Material and methods: 35 scientifi c articles on the selectedtopic from the PubMed and WHO databases were studied. Results: Children are susceptible to SARS-CoV-2 infection mainly due to the immaturity of their immune system. Although the percentage of severe cases was much lower among the adults in special in the group with preexisting diseases (heart or lung disease, neoplasms, malnutrition) when the progression to severe disease can be fulminantly. The pathogenetic mechanisms of myocardial injury caused by SARS-CoV-2 are not defi nitively known, but the main working hypotheses remain direct myocardial injury, hypoxia, infl ammation. Cardiovascular complications can develop both at the onset of the disease and as a the consequences of an increased infl ammatory activity and include: microangiopathy with thrombosis, myocarditis, coronary heart disease, pericarditis, coronary artery aneurysms, heart failure, arrhythmia, acute coronary syndrome, sudden death. But cardiovascular inquiries in SARS-CoV-2 infection can be myocardial disorders (acute myocardial infarction, myocarditis, acute coronary syndrome, cardiomyopathy), cardiac dysrhythmias; cardiotoxicity of antiviral medication; hypercoagulability with a predisposition to venous and arterial thrombosis, heart failure, cardiogenic shock. |
