Rezumat

The level and structure of food consumption are some of the indicators that objectively reflect the real living conditions of the population. This is conditioned by the fact, that nutrition is the most essential of human needs and has priority over all other needs. Ensuring quality nutrition is the most acute problem of households with a modest standard of living, and first of all, of families with many children. The situation in the food sector of the population of the Republic of Moldova is demonstrated by the dynamics of the size of household expenditure on agri-food products, which reflects a positive trend. The study of qualitative and quantitative consumption of agro-food products in Moldova was carried out with the application of the economic-mathematical apparatus in order to identify their dynamics and peculiarities. Using the calculation methodology proposed by the National Bureau of Statistics, the author was able to determine the level of self-supply and the coefficient of import dependence. All the results of the calculations performed in the research were exposed through tables and graphs, so the tabular method and the graphical method were applied.
