Soiul „TITAN” de miscant giganteu, Miscanthus giganteus,
fam.

The cultivar „TITAN” of Miscanthus giganteus, Poaceae
family, perennial plant with numerous tillers 350-400 cm
tall, annual productivity reached 60-100 t/ha of green
mass or 16.2-28.0 t/ha dry matter.
Multi-purpose crop: ornamental plant, feedstock for
renewable energy, biomaterials and chemicals
production.
Solid biofuel: briquettes with specific density 882 kg/m3
and pellets - 1262 kg/m3, ash content 1.73-2.51 %,
potential of energy production 325-500 GJ/ha, equivalent
to 11.1-17.1 t coal or 7.8- 12.2 t conventional oil.
The fresh and silage mass can be used as substrate for
anaerobic digesters, with biochemical methane yield 259-
355 L/kg organic dry matter, the potential of biomethane
production: 4100-7000 m3/ha.
Feedstock for cellulosic ethanol production, the dry
stems, were characterized by high content of cellulose
(557 g/kg), hemicellulose (283 g/kg), pentose
carbohydrates (100 g/kg) and hexose carbohydrates
(47 g/kg), its theoretical ethanol yield reached 610 l/t dry
matter.
This crop is suitable for the phyto-amelioration and the
use of marginal, eroded and polluted lands.
