The article deals with the features of novelistic fairy tales in the folklore of the Bulgarians of Moldova. The general plot-typological genre characteristics, marked in the Catalog of Bulgarian fairy tales and preserved in the local version, are demonstrated. Several fairy tales are analyzed, some of them being reflected in the above mentioned Catalog, compiled in accordance with the Anti Aarne International Catalog. The author has identified narration elements, which can be considered as ethno cultural markers, reflecting the connection of the tale with the real life of the carriers of Bulgarian folklore, and serving the preservation and functioning of the ethnic identity of its carriers. In the majority of the tales considered, the narration is related to family life, the relationship between its members. Tales of fate constitute one of the characteristic groups of a novelistic fairy tale. The elements that mark the relevance of the narration to the life of the Bulgarian ethnic group are mythological, traditional, and domestic.
