The article refers to the glorious period of Constantin Brâncoveanu’s reign (1688– 1714). Supported by a brilliant pleiad of local and foreign scholars, this ruler initiated a broad and multidimensional process of cultural resurrection, materialized in the relaunch of typographic art, in the consolidation of national education, in the founding of churches, monasteries and palaces. The author insists, especially, on the outcome of Brancoveanu’s initiatives in the field of orthodox choir music. At this level one can notice, in particular, the opening of the Royal School of Psaltic Music in Bucharest, where students learned the art of singing after neume, and the activity of Filotei sin Agăi Jipei, author of the Romanian Psalter, the first collection of sacred songs in Romanian. An emblematic figure of the Brancoveanu era, Filotei sin Agăi Jipei left to posterity a unique musical work of great historical and civic resonance. The study analyses this heritage, highlighting its importance and uniqueness.
