Analyzing the broadcasting communication from a historical perspective, one can easily observe that, at the dawn of television, the anchor was a key-figure in the nomenclature of the television industry staff. As a rule, the anchors of the television stations presented the news, as well as large documentary and artistic programs, being also involved as linking between programs for different advertising announcements or humanitarian ones. Once the public sector became a democratic one in the former USSR, the "institution" of anchors was considered obsolete, stressing upon the idea that they were nothing but "docile voices of power", who would indoctrinate people with the principles of communist ideology. As an aftermath of this trend in the national broadcasting, some anchors were compelled to re-orientate their profile, the other ones had to sack, because, the editor or the author-presenter increasingly gained importance, with alternating success, in the foreground of news production. And when the television debates and talk shows literally "invaded" the media, the moderator becomes an iconic figure of the television. Talk shows are a kind of launch pad for becoming television stars. But not only do the moderators get the status of TV stars, some experts who have performed well in talk shows, have become popular overnight. |
