In the National Archive of the Republic of Moldova the personal collection of the famous Moldovan artist Glebus Saiciuc (1919-2012), contains unique works, photographs, as well as informative documents telling about his life and creativity. The period of formation of the personality of G. Sainciuc falls on the period of time of the 40-s-50’s XX century, which was one of the most difficult and contradictory in the visual arts, when easel painting was able deeply to express the phenomena of reality and solve the ideological and artistic problem of that time, becoming the main genre in painting. It was G. Sainciuc painting “Winemakers”, created by him in 1947, as well as the composition “Tractor Drivers”, which he performed together with the artist Valentina Russu-Ciobanu in 1950, that became a worthy example of the initial stage in the development of Moldovan easel painting. And G. Sainciuc’s painting “On the Dairy Farm”, like all his subsequent works, clearly demonstrated that the artist’s skill reached the creative maturity. The portrait gallery’s very characteristic, where the artist G. Sainciuc was able to very skillfully convey a psychological portrait of a person using color. The personal fund contains portrait images of M. Bieşu, G. Guţu, V. Russu-Ciobanu and others. As a cartoonist, he created many friendly caricatures, sketches and masks, showing undoubtedextraordinaryacting ability. And although the main idea in them was not naturalistic casts, but he showed individual characters, subtly using humor and satire. The most interesting cartoons are presented by the filmdirector E. Lotianu, the artist I. Vieru, the poet A. Lupan and others. The creative activity of G. Sainciuc was appreciated at his personal exhibitions in Moscow, Baku, Odessa, Lvov, for which he was repeatedly decorated with honorary diplomas and medals. In the last years of his life, the artist was busy with graphic sketches connected with a fantastic and humorous theme, when small funny vital scenes, which the master called „bagatelle”, seemed to come alive on paper.The personal fund of the honored artist G. Sainciuc was taken into state storage from the artist himself. Archival documents consisting of 282 files and 18 photos relative to the creativity are presented in this fund from 1947 to 1973. These are: drawings, sketches, studies; friendly cartoons of artists, writers, composers, artists of the “Luceafărul” theater, literary and art critics, scientists, guests, etc., as well as reproductions of paintings of G. Sainciuc, which are an integral part of the cultural heritage of the Republic of Moldova.
