Rezumat

This paper looks at the environmental dimension of resilience and its implications for human beings. It explores the various dimensions of resilience and how it relates to knowledge on personal safety in times of natural crisis, patterns of social behavior, gender differences in perceptions and attitudes, disaster preparedness in relation to family situation and interconnectivity between resilience and optimism. For this purpose, teachers and students from three educational institutions in Moldova were involved in research. This article promotes the idea that climate resilience should be nurtured in school. To support the discussion, the paper utilizes the teacher focus groups findings on the topic of resilience and climate change education. It also relies on the results of the questionnaire and tests applied with students to identify where the gaps are and what the pillars of building climate resilience should be in educational settings.
