Throughout history, only the sedentary peoples have cultivated vines, becoming from this point of view the symbol of a nation's steadfastness. Fascinating and miraculous vines, it was for people a permanent attraction, a mystery and at the same time a blessing that through its grapes and wine satisfied the refined tastes and soothed souls. Each people constituting their cultural identity is based on several symbols, customs, legends, religious beliefs, etc., which leave their mark in the toponymy. One of the most commonly used symbols in place names is vines. The purpose of the present study is to identify the localities whose names are formed from the word „vines”, to capture the reality on the ground, the form of formation and the evolution of the names of the localities. |
